Harley Flanagan is about to be in a world of shit. 

Music is really reaching all time lows (see what I did there?) with a lot of these shitty bands out there right now. It is sickening how pop punk has “evolved” from such awesome bands like The Ramones, The Buzzcocks and The Undertones to The Descendents and Screeching Weasel (no decline here) to Blink-182, Green Day and New Found Glory to Such Gold, The Wonder Years, Balance and Composure and Title Fight. This seems to follow the same trend as emo when awesome bands like Embrace, Fugazi and Sunny Day Real Estate turned into garbage like Hawthorne Heights and My Chemical Bromance. 

Is it just me? Or am I turning into one of those cynical grouches throughout time like how Sabbath and Zeppelin era fans hated the likes of late 80s early 90s hard rock and grunge juggernauts Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Soundgarden etc. And how the punk and hardcore generations can’t seem to agree on anything past Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Bad Brains. 

But we are officially seeing Refused, OFF! and American Nightmare in the same week. (Edit - how sick would it be if Snapcase was somehow added in the middle of all this?) I better plan on being sore the rest of the month of July after the sheer adrenaline, pain, and exhaustion my body will endure that week. And when it’s all healed…This is Hardcore Fest (Gorilla Biscuits, Lifetime, H2O, Bane, Vision, Rival Mob, Horror Show +) up right in the beginning of August. 

I am prepared to find out just how “too old for this shit” I really am. lol.

They don’t go to shows, they don’t support new bands

So you are 100% sure that they don’t support any bands in Sweden or Europe? You expect them to fly out to Sweden to support some shitty ass hardcore bands that try to sound like Cro-Mags, Suicidal Tendencies or Black Flag? God knows they aren’t supporting Terror’s garbage. I do believe that Dennis was in attendance for the American Nightmare reunion and that he does in fact attend shows when he is in the states touring. Let me see you fly out every week to Europe (let alone Sweden) for some hardcore shows. It’s not like many of these hardcore bands can afford  Not to pull a facebook/twitter follower card but I know Dennis is constantly promoting music he enjoys and has respect for. New and old.

Have you seen them before? There are many accounts that they have not lost who they “once were.” Having seen them one time for a reunion in NYC, I can say that was one of the most exhilarating, epic and entertaining performances I have ever been to in my life. And I have see my fair share of bands. Old and new. During prime and out of it.

On a final note: Fuck Scott Vogel. Fuck Terror. And write your own shit, asshole. Everything you and your band plays is so generic and has been done 10000x over and over. At least Refused admit to being in vein to NYHC and Trash. But they add that with elements of Nation of Ulysses and Ink & Dagger feel with a touch of socialism and their own unique blend.

Blew me away last night. The Casualties were great as usual, but those two really stole the show.
